Sophie Isahmad Bayero
Sophia Essahmed Bayero Is a human resource practitioner and social entrepreneur from northern Nigeria, who is driven by a strong passion for social impact and economic growth, especially inclusive growth that is focused on underserved communities, diversity and gender education; which she believes is the intervention needed to break the alarming cyclical poverty holding the country down.
With in-depth knowledge and experience spanning over 16 years in the areas of education, healthcare, human management and micro finance, she is equipped to make meaningful impacts in the fields of humanitarian services, financial development and peace building in urban slums and rural settlements of northern Nigeria.
This she has achieved by attending various trainings and conferences across the world, which include: The 63rd UN session of The Commission on the Status of Women, New York; the 7th Global Ethical Micro Finance and Rural Finance training workshop, Istanbul; Women’s World Bank summit for making finance work for women, Tanzania; Community based micro finance for financial inclusion Coady International Institute, Canada; Geneva Peace week, United Nations; USAID Women’s Economic Empowerment & Equity, Africa Regional Workshop, South Africa.
As one of the trustees of Gatan Marayu Foundation, she is relentless in achieving outstanding goals to drive social change in Nigeria, especially in Northern Nigeria.
